• Arizona enacted a law (HB 2192) to protect those depending on structured settlements on 23rd May 2002.
• The law requires transparency from those purchasing structured settlements. All fees and charges deducted from the offer price for the settlement must be disclosed prior to any transfer of funds. As in other states where such a law has been enacted, the aim was to prevent the holders of structured settlements from being encouraged to sell their settlements without fully understanding the costs or the consequential loss of long term financial security.
• All sales of structured settlements must, under this, law, be approved by a court.
